Telecom101 classes are packed with hands-on skill training to quickly and efficiently teach the basics of installing, terminating and maintaining various media in today's network environments.
Class options include Cabling Installer Basics, Fiber Optic Basics and Terminations, Wireless Networking Basics and Public Address System Basics.
Classes may be taken one at a time or as a block. All classes are taught by actual field technicians. Classes discuss the basics of working with the materials in a safe manner, terminology, basic design and installation techniques while creating an awareness of important codes and standards, and LOTS OF HANDS ON work with cable, connectors, jacks and blocks doing terminations, basic testing and troubleshooting.
Upon completion of the suite of courses, students will be able to competently prepare and terminate Category 3, 5e and 6 cable and jacks; install a variety of crimp-on fiber connectors and optoelectronics; set up and secure wireless routers and access points; and install paging speakers, horns, amplifiers and zone control units. Trained students will better understand the industry as a whole and gain in their knowledge of deploying multiple network environments to provide a complete solution for the end-user.
Telecom101 courses are designed for personnel who will be installing and/or maintaining these networks and associated equipment. The course is also suitable for Information Technology staff, Electricians or other Maintenance staff that may need to deal with telecom physical plant from time to time or supervisors overseeing this type of activity by employees or outside vendors.
The Telecom101 training center is located in Fresno, California and classes are designed to provide maximum value for your training dollars.
Tool kits may be brought by the student or are available on site for students to rent or if preferred, available for purchase (rental and purchase requires notification at time of enrollment). Several packages are available, depending on the course of interest. Training will include the proper use of tools, meters and testers used in the courses.
Telecom 101 courses are hands-on. It is a classroom environment that also includes some basic mock-ups for installation and testing training. While the most common standards and codes are discussed (NEC Chapter 8; ANSI/EIA/TIA 568, 569, 606 and 607), this course is not designed to teach the standards in depth or cover them all.

Telecom101 is wholly owned by Signal Communication Systems, California Contractor #743890, headquartered in Fresno, CA. Classes are taught by Signal technical staff and personnel. Signal has provided telecom services and products throughout central California since 1986. Telecom101 was developed after recognizing a need for affordable, simple basic training of design, preparation, installation and maintenance of the physical LAN or network found in today's office, warehouse and campus environments. Signal has been an Accredited Better Business Bureau member for over twenty years.
